Biography
Deepali Mishra is a doctoral researcher and Project Research Scientist-I at the School of Life Sciences (SLS) within Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi, India.
Research Profile & Focus
She conducts her work at the RPS Cancer Lab under the supervision of Prof. Rana Pratap Singh. Her primary scientific interests include:
• Radioresistance in Cancer: Delineating the underlying mechanisms that make head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC) resistant to radiation therapy.
• DNA Damage & Stemness: Exploring how cancer stem cells and DNA damage response pathways—specifically involving enzymes like PARP-1—help cancer cells survive therapeutic intervention.
• Targeted Therapeutics: Investigating how natural small molecules and plant alkaloids (such as Berberine, Silibinin, and Fisetin) can be paired with radiation to enhance treatment efficacy, trigger apoptosis, and curb tumor growth.
Academic Background
• Ph.D. (Oncology and Cancer Biology): School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University.
• M.Sc. (Genetics): Department of Genetics, South Campus, University of Delhi.
• B.Sc. (Zoology Hons.): Zakir Husain Delhi College, University of Delhi.
