Biography
Dr. Ramesh Kumar is a Scientist and Principal Investigator at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. Dr. Kumar received his Ph.D. from the Centre for Chromosome Biology, University of Galway, Ireland. During his first post-doctoral work at the Leiden University Medical Centre, he worked extensively to understand the role of STUbLs in regulating DNA repair and carcinogenesis. During his next post-doctoral career at the IFOM Milan and DUKE-NUS Medical School, Singapore, he worked on various research topics to understand the molecular and biochemical basis of carcinogenesis. Dr. Kumar has worked as a Senior Research Investigator for Johnson and Johnson Therapeutics.
In early 2021, Ramesh became interested in investigating Hippo signaling cross-talk with key oncogenic drivers. He received the A*STAR Career Development Fund to identify novel regulators of the TEAD transcription factor. In his current role at the IMCB, A-STAR institute, he is leading small-molecule drug discovery to target YAP/TAZ-TEAD signaling as monotherapy and combination therapy.
